For the Glory of God

Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

This week, I invite you to expand the horizons of your prayer.  St. Paul says, “Do everything for the glory of God.”  So here’s the challenge:  Each day this week, pick one thing to focus on that you will try to do consciously for the glory of God.

Try to include things you never would have connected with the glory of God before.  “Today I will choose what I eat for the glory of God.”  “Today I will watch television for the glory of God.”  “Today I will drive my car for the glory of God.”  “Today I will answer the telephone for the glory of God.”

Let your imagination go! What could  that possibly mean, to watch television or answer the phone or drive your car for the glory of God?  What else could you try doing for the glory of God?  “Today I will eat low-fat for the glory of God.”  “Today I will eat chocolate for the glory of God.”

If you are so inclined, journal briefly about your experience each day, and at the end of the week look back over your journal and talk with God about what you have discovered.
