Prayer & Spirituality Resources

Sacred Space
A resource for online prayer offered by the Irish Jesuits. Simple, elegant, profound. Provides a 10-minute contemplative interlude right at your computer. The prayer structure is constant, the content is fresh every day.

The Center for Liturgy at Saint Louis University Sunday Website
A resource for praying and reflecting on the upcoming Sunday’s readings, following the Roman Catholic lectionary (virtually identical to the Common Lectionary). Incredibly rich, with prayerful, poetic, exegetical, meditational, and social justice perspectives—to name a few! Intended not just for preachers, but for all, so that communal worship can be richer as individuals take time to prepare on multiple levels.

Orientations:  Helps for Prayer
Assembled and/or created by John Veltri, S.J. Many of the items come from the Christian tradition of Ignatian spirituality with complementary bits and pieces from elsewhere.

Real Prayer: a Short Virtual Retreat and St. Michael the Archangel Virtual Retreat House
Very nicely-done resource offered by the Passionists that guides you through an experience of quiet, contemplative prayer. Also includes good reflections on the nature of a retreat.

The Columbus Center for Movement Studies
Located in Columbus, Ohio. CCMS is a school which focuses on mind/body/spirit learning through body and movement awareness training. A wonderful resource for learning to live (and therefore pray) conscious of oneself as an incarnate, integrated whole. Good stuff available online for you to experiment with on your own.

Joshua and the Promised Land: An Interactive Multimedia Bible Study
Provides a wonderful model for how to delve into a scripture passage with both mind and heart. Provided by the Women’s Division of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.

Retreats International
Includes a wonderful reflection on the retreat experience, plus an excellent list of recommended readings

Spiritual Directors International
A global learning community of people from many faiths and many nations who share a common concern, passion and commitment to the art and contemplative practice of spiritual direction.
