A Ministry of Spiritual Growth and Deepening
About Us

Corazón Core Beliefs & Values

God is real.

God loves us.

God seeks us out before we seek God, and whether or not we ever do so.

God is with us in Jesus.

God meets us in fully human ways.

God chooses to partner with us, and invites us to partner with God.

We do not have to “go somewhere else” (up in the sky; out into the woods or fields) to find God.  God is right here with us, in the everyday places where we live our lives, waiting for us to notice.

We are called to love as we are loved, and we cannot trust that our spirituality is sound unless it is expressing itself in a life of active love.

We are called to be open to the possibility of joy, no matter what our history, no matter what the circumstances we find ourselves in.

We are not meant to make the spiritual journey alone, but in partnership with God and in community with one another.

Corazón seeks to witness to these beliefs and embody these values by…

  • Inviting attention to God’s presence and action revealed in city life:
    • in the diverse people encountered in the city
    • in the world of work
    • in community life
    • in the history and tradition symbolized by city buildings and monuments
    • in the social challenges with which the city struggles
  • Offering a quiet “place apart” which is, paradoxically, “right in the midst of it all”
  • Encouraging and supporting attention to all dimensions of one’s self—body, mind, heart, and spirit—as invited into communion with God, and potential bearers of revelation
  • Respecting the uniqueness of each person’s journey by offering multiple options and approaches
  • Offering regular opportunities to learn, explore, share faith, and grow in the context of community
